Event Details

The Backthird Songwriting Conference exists to help you sell songs. We want to empower Chicago-area songwriters to publish more music – and to write more music that is worthy of publication.

Our speaker, John J. Thompson, is Director of Creative and Copyright Development at EMI CMG Publishing, where he oversees everything from pitching songs to film and television to A&R to production of physical and digital print music. He has also served for more than a decade on the Grammy Awards screening committee.

The conference is a blend of several formats. There will be times to listen and learn. There will be chances to submit your music for industry-level feedback. And there will be plenty of opportunities to eat, drink and connect with other area songwriters who are serious about their music. For more information, visit the Backthird Songwriting Conference website.

Backthird Audio

Backthird Audio exists to serve people who love music – by developing them, by getting them work and by connecting them meaningfully to one another.

In the studio, we’re a place to record, to learn, and to relate. Out of the studio, we connect musicians with brides, grooms and event planners to create beautiful, joyful celebrations. And each of these functions feeds and supports the others.
